Creative Core Abs will ignite "your inner fire' through an energizing ab workout. Instructor Shiva Rea believes the core is the seat of our physical, emotional, mental and spiritual selves (and the center of a great many yoga poses). She has designed 3 programs ranging from 7 to 17 minutes that offer a creative and innovative approach to developing your core muscles:
'Water Core' ( 10 minutes) - beginner
'Spontaneous Core' (8 minutes) - intermediate
'Fire Core' (17 minutes) - advanced
The core is roughly defined as the area between the upper thighs and lower ribcage, with particular focus on the abdominals and lower back. Good things flow from a strong core -- a long, lean torso, a healthy back and a positive flow of energy that benefits every aspect of your life. Shiva Rea, one of the world’s top yoga teachers, presents a targeted abs workout that’s creative and fun to do and encourages you to develop your own core abs exercises made from the building blocks supplied by this master teacher. The workout can be done all at once, or in 10- to 15-minute segments that fit your busy lifestyle. These are not your mother's leg lifts or your dad's crunches but unique and interesting exercises that are gentle, fun and effective.
Shiva Rea is a long-standing teacher at Yoga Works in Santa Monica where she teaches flow (vinyasa) based yoga, integrating alignment and intuition, strength and fluidity, meditation and wisdom in action. She is also on the faculty of UCLA’s World Arts and Cultures Program where she received her Master’s in Dance Movement Therapy while studying world dance, cultural anthropology, comparitive religions and somatics.
