Yoga Mats
Blessed are the flexible for they shall
not be bent out of shape

The one necessary piece of equipment for your yoga practice is the yoga mat. Choosing the right mat for you is dependent on many factors and is a very individual decision.
If you're new to yoga and not sure that you will be making it a regular part of your life, you may prefer to start with a standard, inexpenseive sticky mat. The standard length of a yoga mat is 68" but you may prefer one that is longer. Several of our manufacturers offer a variety of lengths from which you can choose. Are you looking for extra cushioning for your back and joints? Mats come in a variety of thicknesses -- 1/8", 3/16", 1/4" and even 5/16". If you practice some of the more athletic, fast-paced yoga styles, a mat that offers both cushioning and stability would be best suited for you. Hot yoga practioners will want a mat that provides a non-slip surface even when wet. The addition of a waffle mat or yoga towel is also an option in preventing slippage on sweat-covered mats. If you're practicing gentle yoga or restorative yoga, you may prefer the extra gentle cushioning of a cotton thai yoga mat.
An additonal factor to consider before purchasing a mat is it's weight. Will you be traveling to and from yoga class several times a week? If you're carrying around a mat, you might consider purchasing one that is lighter in weight and made for travel. A tote made specifically for mats would also be a good investment. For ease of storage and commuting our yoga mat bags are large enough to carry over-sized mats, a water bottle, towel, yoga blocks & a change of clothes.
One more factor to consider before your purchase is the construction and materials of the mat. If you are eco-conscious, choose a mat made of natural rubber or a mat that is biodegradable. Several of our manufacturers plant a tree for every one of they're products that we sell. All of our mats meet product safety standards, however you may prefer one material over another due to allergies or other personal preferences.
